Montessori Madmen

Advocating Montessori

We're an impatient, ragtag group of dads and advocates from around the world, united by a common zeal to bring the Montessori method to millions more. Our mission is simple: to advocate for Montessori education so that one day it's not called Montessori school; it's just called school.

Montessori Elevator Speech Contest update

Camera shy? Short on time this spring? No problem.

We want your Montessori Elevator Speech for the contest at the International Montessori Congress at the end of July in Portland, Oregon.

Although we have received dozens of videotaped elevator speeches from Montessorians all over, we want YOUR ideas too! You can make a contribution to the Montessori movement by simply sharing IN WRITING what you might say to a stranger who asks you, "What is Montessori?" Your ideas will help us all think about this topic and help each of us craft what we will say when the same question is asked of us one day. Let's work together to figure out what are the essential elements of a good Montessori elevator speech.

Oh, and there are big prizes for the winning entries! A panel of judges, including the leaders of several large Montessori organizations, will help lead a discussion and choose the winners with audience input.

Three simple steps:

  1. Jot down an answer to the question "What is Montessori?"

  2. Edit it down to somewhere in the ballpark of 100-150 words (or less than 60 seconds if spoken).

  3. Email it to trevor@montessorimadness.com.

To help get you going, you can see some of the videos already submitted by going to the "MontElevatorSpeech" channel on YouTube. We look forward to receiving your entry soon!

Cheers,

Trevor Eissler
