Montessori Madmen

Advocating Montessori

We're an impatient, ragtag group of dads and advocates from around the world, united by a common zeal to bring the Montessori method to millions more. Our mission is simple: to advocate for Montessori education so that one day it's not called Montessori school; it's just called school.

Ridgeline Montessori Needs Your Help.

Imagine the first days of summer vacation as a parent, taking your kids to the playground or the pool, where the conversation inevitably turns to the kids, their summer plans and the recently completed school year.

As a Montessori parent, you talk about waking up each morning with your kids, excited to help them get ready for another great day of learning at their Montessori school. A place where your kids could not  wait to get to school to tackle their works and projects.

But then you get a phone call.

A fellow Montessori parent, choking back tears, says that there was a terrible fire last night and the Montessori school everyone loves suffered horrific and extensive damage. Thankfully no one was injured, but your beloved school will not be the school in September that it was in June. The next few days become a blur, as everyone absorbs their shock and sadness, evaluates the disaster and figures out next steps.

For the families of Ridgeline Public Montessori Charter School in Eugene, Oregon, this was their nightmare reality at the end of June 2009.

Ridgeline and its families have spent the past two years picking up the pieces, trying to fulfill its mission of outstanding, free public Montessori education for its students, nearly 40% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Today, the good news is that Ridgeline is on the verge of becoming better and stronger than ever through the purchase of an amazing property that can serve as its “forever home”, after years of being subject to the ups and downs of renting different spaces.

But that brighter future cannot happen without our help and your help as Montessorians who must band together to help one of our own get back up after being knocked down.

Ridgeline needs to raise $100,000 by December 31st to complete the journey from awful nightmare to glorious new dream.

The Montessori Madmen are committed to helping Ridgeline achieve this dream which will also help Ridgeline provide a fantastic and free Montessori education to over 25% more students.
